ASICS Nimbus 25

I have never been a fan of ASICS, until NOW…..I LOVE this shoe. Happy 25th  Birthday to the Nimbus! This shoe is actually a cloud designed as a shoe. Everything about the Nimbus 25 feels plush and comfortable. The new knit upper is stretchy but supportive and the giant slab of FF Blast+ Eco is pillowy soft.

How does it feel/fit?

ASICS Nimbus 25 can be purchased at The Running Well Store.

The new model really offers amazing impact absorption. I think they would be very helpful for heel strikers, due to the high stack under the heel.

The Nimbus 25 is incredibly soft but still provide just enough rebound to make me feel like I’ve got some energy underfoot. I absolutely love the new upper, it’s like putting your favorite sweater on: cozy, flexible, and feels like a hug. The heel has a sock-like design to it that I really enjoyed.

These shoes are really nice for both running and walking. It’s energetic enough to be a great training shoe, but I keep reaching for them when I need to walk my best friend (doggie), Cooper. ASICS has really leaned into the ‘rocker’ technology across the lineup, and even though these aren’t a ‘performance shoe,’ they still help get you onto your toes for a really smooth transition.

The Upper

Nimbus 25 is a neutral shoe that can be found at The Running Well Store in KC.

The new knit upper (previously engineered mesh) is designed with an extended knit around the collar and heel tab to provide a unique look, but also give you that plush step-in feel.

In terms of the upper, there have been a couple of changes. The engineered mesh design has been upgraded to a stretchy knit material. There’s also a gusseted stretch knit tongue which provides support and breathability. A plush collar construction is a welcome upgrade too and extends around the ankle to create a more comfortable fit.

When it comes to overall design, the Nimbus 25 has a lot on its predecessor. Despite being a much-loved shoe, the Nimbus, in my opinion, was never really a “head turner” . Everything about the 25 feels more modern and stylish, right down to the more “‘out there” colorways.

Outsole

Nimbus outsole is great.

The outsole has a completely new material to provide a softer feel. Asics Lite rubber is found beneath the forefoot with AHAR+ in the heel for added durability.

The redesigned outsole has soft Asics Lite rubber on the forefoot and AHAR (high abrasion rubber) on the heel. This is designed to offer strong grip for road running in wet and dry conditions. Overall, I was fairly impressed with the grip. Even during a slightly more “off trail” walk after a couple of days of rain I didn’t find myself particularly slipping or sliding.

Midsole

The midsole, which was previously Flytefoam and Flytefoam Blast+ has been replaced with FF Blast+ Eco, which is made with 20% bio-based material. It’s the same stuff that’s found in Novablast 3 but with more recycled goods.

Who Is This Shoe Good For?

Nimbus 25 can be found in KC

I’m pumped to say that this shoe would be good for someone who is looking for a great longer run trainer. Anyone that is looking to use it for just about any type of casual run, and the comfort, cushion, and support makes them suitable for all neutral runners.

It’s the perfect shoe for city sidewalks and pavement since it takes away the rough feeling of the ground but doesn’t take away all the pop in your step.

It’s very easy to recommend these shoes to customers because they are so versatile and comfortable. Whether you’re a walker, new runner, or veteran marathoner, you could probably use these shoes in your collection. It helps that they are really stylish too!

Who Is This Shoe NOT Good For?

For those customers that like to feel the ground and do NOT like a lot of cushion.
